The Northbrook, Illinois-based company said it had profit of $2.26 per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were $2.30 per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.90 per share.
The specialty chemicals company posted revenue of $751.6 million in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $692.4 million.
