Whoopi Goldberg ‘done with Twitter’ after Elon Musk takeover
Whoopi Goldberg became just the latest person to bid farewell to Twitter Monday.
Goldberg, who lives in West Orange, said in the week since Elon Musk took over the company, she’s watched it become a place where she no longer feels comfortable having a presence.
“It’s a mess,” she said on “The View.”
Goldberg, 66, alluded to the employee layoffs (and callbacks) that followed Musk’s arrival at the company, along with the plan to charge people a monthly fee for verified accounts.

She also cited Kathy Griffin’s suspension from Twitter for changing her display name to “Elon Musk” as a joke (”Going forward, any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying ‘parody’ will be permanently suspended,” Musk tweeted Sunday.

I’m gonna get out and if it settles down and I feel more comfortable, maybe I’ll come back, but as of tonight, I’m done with Twitter .”
Call it an early birthday present for Goldberg — she turns 67 Nov. 13.
Sure enough, the TV host, actor and comedian’s Twitter account, @Whoopi Goldberg — the same one “The View” account tagged her in for these very remarks — no longer existed as of Monday night .Many people unhappy with the fledgling Musk regime have pledged to depart for other social networks like Mastodon or retreat to Instagram.
